Fall Decorating Ideas for Your Deck & Patio

The leaves are changing colors, the air is crisp, and school is back in session. It’s officially fall and we are once again reminded of what a beautiful season it is. The summer heat may be fading, but it’s still a great time of year to spend time outside on your deck or patio. Here are some fun fall decorating ideas for the outdoor spaces around your home:

Pumpkins

Nothing screams fall quite like pumpkins. There are so many fun ways to use them to decorate your deck and patio. A few pumpkins on the steps leading up to your deck or patio will give a great fall feel or you can carve them as Halloween approaches to delight trick-or-treaters! You can even hollow out pumpkins and use them as planters.

Flowers

Flowers aren’t just for the spring and summertime. Bold colored chrysanthemums, goldenrod, and sunflowers will complement the color of fall leaves as they change from green to yellow to red. Place some potted flowers on and around your deck to bring new life to the season.

Leaf Garland

It may not be quite time for string lights or garland wreaths just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t decorate the railing or fence around your deck. Use silk leaves, pinecones, ribbons, and anything else you can think of to create a fall themed garland to hang around your deck or patio.

Furniture

Give your outdoor furniture fall flair! Paint your table and chairs a deep red or rust orange, place a wool blanket over an old rocker, or invest in a warm-toned table umbrella. Not only will this give your deck a warm fall feel, it will also make the furniture in the space feel new again.
