• Pool Deck Safety Tips

As the warmer weather continues in Tennessee, we here at Allstar Fence and Deck wanted to point out some important pool deck safety tips to keep in mind. While it may seem like second nature to practice safety precautions around the pool, it’s easy to forget some of the basics.

Make Sure Your Deck is Structurally Intact

At the start of each season, don’t forget to check the nails and fasteners supporting your deck to be sure there is no rust, corrosion, or rotting. Double check that each part of the deck, including railings and banisters, are connected where they should be and are sturdy.

    Power Wash Your Deck

Power washing will remove any mildew that may have built up since last pool season and will help to prevent slipping.

    Use a Waterproof Sealer

Sealing your deck will not only help protect the deck from damage, but it may allow for better traction and less chance of slipping.

    No Running Around the Pool

Even though a good power wash or sealer will decrease your chances of slipping around the pool, a wet deck can still be dangerous and you should be cautious when moving around.

    Install a Fence

Installing a fence on your pool deck will not only prevent unwanted guests from getting in, but it will also create a barrier keeping unsupervised children from getting too close to the pool.

Keep a First Aid Kit Nearby

Unfortunately accidents can happen, even if you follow all of the necessary safety precautions. Keeping a first aid kit handy will allow you to be better prepared for any slips, falls, or injuries that may occur.

While you are enjoying the summer months, remember, a safe deck is a fun deck and we’re here to make sure you have the best deck around.
